oh mercy me.

as you can see, i haven't done much around here in a very long time. there are many reasons behind this:

1. the craft world has consumed me. you name it, i've been trying to make it. it started with knitting. it's since moved to crochet, embroidery, rubber stamping, making stitch markers, and lord knows what else.
2. i don't really own a good camera to document my endeavors with. if you want a blog consisting entirely of cell phone pictures, i'm your gal.
3. the only time i really use a computer is at work. i don't have my own at home, and i always feel like such a pain asking to borrow my roommates. however, she just purchased a new laptop and is offerring me her desktop. hooray!
4. with so many wonderful blogs out there, i just feel like my own blog is a fraud. i'm not nearly as adorable as all the wonderful bloggie ladies. they're such an inspiration to me. maybe one day i'll be at their level. until then, i use my blog to stalk them all.

i have many projects being planned. too many, in fact. once i'm a little more technology enabled, i'll start posting their progress!

until then!

the countdown to christmas!

i can't believe how quickly christmas is approaching. i feel like i have so much to do still, and not nearly enough time to do it all in.

first, in my little world of knitting...

i visited my lys this weekend. i love it! i picked up some chunky baby alpaca in chocolate brown to make myself something yummy after i survive christmas! i also picked up some plymouth worsted wool in charcoal. i was in a "just in case" mood, and sure enough, right after i left the store, my mom called to find how quickly i could knit up a scarf for my aunt sandy. i have to put all my other projects on the back burner for now, since this is obviously more important. (i've given up any hope of getting the wavy boxes afghan done for christmas. considering i worked on it for several hours straight this weekend, only to produce a couple inches, i'm highly doubtful i'll be able to knock it out before sunday.) i settled on the irish hiking scarf for my aunt. it's reasonably simple (i'm SO glad i just taught myself cables), so i hope it won't take too long!

and now, in my little world of other stuff...

i completely forgot i need to make a barnes and noble stop for three presents i completely forgot about! i also forgot i actually need to go out and buy everything i'll need for the yummy christmas treats. silly me must have thought they'd just naturally appear. major kudos to my mom for offerring to help me. yay, mom!

i've made a schedule for this week in hopes of actually being able to get stuff done. let's hope i actually stick to it. (i do like that i scheduled in my shower tonight. never too busy for hygiene!)

finally a FO

let's get this straight. i HATE pictures of myself. i've never liked them. i'm never happy with how they come out. i either blink, smile too large, show too much gum, or have giant red eyes. you know those girls that always look much better in pictures? well, i look much better in real life.

up above is a picture of the ever-so-easy martha stewart hat pattern. this hat #2 for me, and this one came out much nicer. i really love the color combination. it seems that brown complements just about any color. (except black. don't get me started on that.) i was so very happy to finally use up a tiny bit of that damn brown lion brand woolease i just can't get rid of. i really hate the regular worsted weight woolease. for some reason i knit like crap with it. i love me some chunky woolease though.

know what else i love? wendy's. i'm going to go eat some of that right now.

i'm a virgin blogger

today is a monumental day. today is the day i lose my blogging virginity. for those of you (cara) that get to witness this, feel incredibly special.

if you want to get technical, which i'm usually guilty of, i'm more like a born-again virgin blogger. in my younger days, i had a torrid love affair with livejournal. now that i've grown up a bit, i no longer feel the need to post countless surveys and memes, as well as the ever-so-frequent, "why doesn't *insert name here* like me back?!" entries.

so...what now?

oh, right. knitting! to be quite honest, i'm a rather crappy knitter. i've only recently discovered there's more to yarn than redheart and lion brand. who knew?! that discovery was truly mind boggling. still, i haven't graduated from the "ghetto" brands of yarn. the nicest thing i've knit with was one of the nicer lion brand yarns. maybe i feel like my knitting isn't good enough to be done with some debbie bliss? or maybe it's because the one time i walked into my lys, i came face-to-face with the orange county stitch n bitch group, was completely overwhelmed and walked right out.

i've come a long way though, especially recently. that's what this blog is all about. this blog is evidence of my desire and passion to get better. actually, i'm lying. it's about my secret desire to be half as cool as all the lovely ladies i see with their knitting journals. oh, how i want to be you!
